Tiger Still Can't Golf

After his March 31st surgery to repair his back Tiger Woods hasn't golfed in any professional tournaments. He was forced to skip the Masters for the first time in his career and it is still questionable if he will play in next month's U.S. Open. He has been unable to even swing a golf club since the surgery and says that it has been hard to do anything due to the pain. The 14 time major champion still has many years of golf ahead of him, but this season hangs in the balance as he rehabs his fragile back.

Cat Saves Boy From Viscous Dog

It seemed to be a normal, sunny day in California on May 15th 2014, but as little Jeremy Triantafilo mounted his favorite tricycle the universe had a more sinister plan for this West Coast state. The attack came out of nowhere, the dog was a stealthy shadow, stalking Jeremy across the neighborhood. When Jeremy was at his most vulnerable the dog lunged and grabbed the four year old by the legs. As he was being thrashed about by this canine menace Tara the cat hero sprung from the porch and body slammed the dog into next week. The little boy escaped with minimal damage, but the dog left with a mental wound that will never heal.

Olympics on NBC Through 2032

NBC has recently made a 7.65 billion dollar deal to keep the Olympics airing on their network through the 2032 games. NBC has been the network for the summer games since 1988 and winter games since 2002. Most of the country is very happy that the Olympics will continue to air on NBC and many say that NBC does the best possible job of covering the historical, social, and athletic aspect of the games. Some criticize NBC for the delay in tape that shows many events hours after they actually occur, but tape delay makes the most sense so that more of the country can watch the more popular parts of the game in prime-time. This tape delay was in the spotlight this year in Sochi as the delay time was over 8 hours for some events. However the 2020 and on locations for the games have not been announced and if there are any games in the Americas then tape delay could be less than 2 or 3 hours. WE have no idea how we will view the Olympics in 2032, but the next 18 years of Olympic games on television lie in the hands of NBC.

Mayweather, Oprah Among Front Runners Interested in Buying Clippers

After the NBA announced that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling will be forced to sell the franchise and be banned from any association with the NBA for life, many celebrities have come forward with interest in buying the team. The clippers will reportedly go on the market for a record 1.5 billion dollars. Oprah Winfrey is the most viable option for ownership as she has announced that she is interested in a joint ownership with multi-billionaires David Geffen and Larry Ellison. Floyd Mayweather also has expressed interest in the organization, however Mayweather does not currently have enough funds to buy the organization outright and he would likely need to partner up with someone to make the purchase. Other people interested in the Clippers include P Diddy, Matt Damon, and Rick Ross. Despite the NBA mandate that Sterling must sell the team, Donald still insists that the team is strictly not for sale. But in the next couple weeks we will most likely see the ownership of this L.A. team switch ownership.

Pokemon Twitch

Recently a channel on the internet site Twitch.tv was set up for over 80,000 people to simultaneously play Pokemon red and blue version through controls entered in the comment section. This site allows players to work together to try to beat the game. As of right now there is over 7 days of game play and the players have still not reached victory road. (A task that normally takes 20 hours of gameplay to defeat.) Over the last several days the site has had to restart multiple times because of the multitude of users clogging the site. Many users are trying to purposely "troll" the progress of the game by releasing pokemon or having the player walk into random walls. This experiment will probably go down as the most popular interactive internet sensation this year and is very entertaining for pokemon fans everywhere.

U.S.A Hockey Team Starts Olympics Off With Win

Early Thursday morning, in U.S. time, the U.S.A beat Slovakia 7-1 in the first round of competition in the hockey portion of the Olympics. Paul Stastny had a pair of goals in the game. This was a special game for Stastny because most of his family lives in Slovakia, but he played for team U.S.A. This caused mixed feelings in his family as they wanted both their country to do well, but also wanted their beloved relative to have a good game as well. Paul's father also played for Czechoslovakia in the 1980 Winter Olympics before the country split. This was also a huge momentum builder for the team in general as the competition going forward will be stiff. The team will play Russia on Sunday in what many believe to be the two best teams in the Olympics. The Slovakia team will still remain a scary team along with Canada, but the U.S. is off to a great start in the hockey bracket.

Bombing by Both Sides in Syria

On Thursday morning a Syrian rebel blew himself up at the gates of a Syrian prison freeing hundreds on inmates. The attack was big for the rebels because they now have enough forces to try and capture some key government positions around the city of Aleppo. While all of this is going on the Government is dropping "barrel bombs" (Explosives, scrap metal, and fuel) on the rebels. These bombs have not only killed rebels, but also 250 citizens of Aleppo, including 73 children. The rebels have now threatened to suspend peace talks that are supposed to take place sometime next week due to the bombings.

Monarch Migrati-none

According to recent studies the North American Monarch Butterfly migration rates are now at record lows. During the peak of the winter season millions of butterflies coat every tree about 100 miles away from Mexico City, but this year the sights are a little less breath taking and professionals say that if the decline continues then there may never be visuals quite like past ones ever again. The root of this problem is still unknown, but if we don't find out what's wrong fast then the world will lose one of its greatest natural phenomenons.

Richard Sherman

Following the Seattle Seahawks 23-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers to send them into the Superbowl Richard Sherman had a few extra words that he wanted to get out there while he was still full of adrenaline. In a post game interview he called out Michael Crabtree, a 49ers receiver, and stated that he was the best cornerback in the game. Big words that received a lot of negative feedback from the rest of the sporting world. He later apologized for the comments, but everyone still gets the feeling that he's not truly sorry. Richard Sherman has proven himself as an elite corner, but he will go up against one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Peyton Manning on the biggest stage in pro football.

Police Officer Acquitted in Kelly Thompson Case Wants His Job Ba

On July 5, 2011 a homeless man named Kelly Thompson was beaten to death by two police officers. The man was diagnosed with schizophrenia and while being beaten he was recorded as yelling, "Dad help me! They're killing me! I'm sorry!" over and over again. Kelly died five days after the altercation due to multiple chest and face injuries. The police officers involved were fired in early 2012 and were recently acquitted because they were "acting within their guidelines." Now Jay Cicinelli, one of the police officers, is requesting to be given his job back. Many people are making petitions to have this case go to federal court, but for now these men are innocent and free.

7 More Years of Mediocrity

Jay Cutler has been impressive at times during his five year stint with the Chicago Bears. He won the NFC North once and took da Bears to the NFC Championship once as well. This is often overshadowed by the fact that he has been injured in every season and is sometimes known for being an inconsistent player. His record as a starter in the Windy City is an above average 39-28, but in those games he has played like a top tier quarterback at times and a scrub at others. And after an emotional 33-28 loss to the Green Bay Packers less than a week ago it seems puzzling that the Bears signed him Thursday to a 7 year contract. The salary of this new deal was undisclosed but reports say that he will earn around 18 million dollars per year. This is frustrating to many Bears fans and at 30 years of age Jay Cutler still has a lot to prove to the city of Chicago.
